Industrial Design
Collection Description
Industrial design objects are well represented in the collection, especially those made in the United States. Mass-produced cameras, clocks, radios, and phonographs provide examples of works by pioneers of American industrial design such as Walter Dorwin Teague, Donald Deskey, Kem Weber, Norman Bel Geddes, Henry Dreyfuss, and Raymond Loewy. The key role that design played in the American automobile industry is evidenced in design drawings for cars as well as many promotional items and advertisements that reveal the visual strategies and techniques used to appeal to potential consumers.
