Description:
Circular bronze medallion with obverse depicting a coat of arms dated 1824 and Mercury-related symbols for sea trade (winged anchor) against a globe; to the left is a large oak branch (an old and symbolic Dutch and Western European tree) and to the right is a large branch with lotus/waterlily (symbolizing the semi-tropical colonies in the east and west); the reverse depicts a tree with curling ribbons on which are inscribed on both sides the names of the cities the company traded; most cities (see inscription) are from the Dutch East and West Indies.
