Description:
Chrome-plated aluminum relief; centralized profile of Hermes (Mercury) wearing a winged hat with birds in flight in the background flanked by three ocean liners on water and a panoramic cityscape of New York which includes a zeppelin flying in the air, building smoke stacks, a bus and a subway car in transit; this bas relief frieze was from the lobby of the St. George Hotel on Clark Street between Hicks and Henry Streets in Brooklyn; the frieze depicts the city of New York in all of its Art Deco splendor.
