Description:
Ink on paper lithographic print of the main entrance hall for the Villa Hvitträsk, the studio home of the architectural firm of Saarinen, Lindgren & Gesellius and their families; depicts interior entrance hall with wooden floors, ceiling, columns, staircase, bed, built-in furniture and other decorative elements; the studio home was named after a lake eighteen miles from Helsinki -- Hvitträsk or "White Lake". Note: On July 18, 1922, a fire broke out in the tower of Hvitträsk destroying all portions north of the studio. The following year the Saarinen family moved to USA but returned to Hvitträsk almost every summer. Saarinen tried to rebuild the north wing many times but it was to complicated and costly.
