Circular bronze medal with obverse depicting Batavia in republican hat of 16th century wielding a sword and olive branch; the reverse depicts the royal Dutch crown, a lion mauling a swastika, the date 5 May 1945, and the royal motto "Je maintiendrai" (in French; " I shall maintain"). Struck by Royal Mint, Utrecht. Caduceus mintmark.
