Description: Library holds three copies. | Cover exhibits reproduction of a painting by Eugene Savage entitled "A God Appears." | "Special mention: The series of Lurline menu covers by artist Eugene Savage, of which this is one, now hangs in the Smithsonian Institute as a permanent display. Savage, who has an international reputation as a muralist and a sculptor, chose the theme of Hawaiian pageantry after spending three months in Hawaii making a multitude of sketches, color notes, historical, botanical, geological, and kindred research studies. His finished murals, from which these nine-color lithographed reproductions were made, are eight feet wide by four feet high. The menu covers also were given the Certificate of Excellence, the highest possible award, at the 1950 Printing for Commerce Exhibit of the American Institute of Graphic Arts."--inside cover. | English.
