Tempera on board mural study depicting the the five needle trades working together; centered at the top are the Ladies' Garment Workers; also shown are the furriers, shoe-makers, milliners, and men's clothing workers; in the section devoted to each trade, the entire process of the trade is illustrated accurately; also depicted are scenes showing the improvements in health care, housing, education, recreation, and cultural activities of the workers; in the center of the panel are personalities who were instrumental in raising the standards of the industry; included here, among others, are portraits of Herbert Lehman (1878-1963), Franklin D. Roosevelt, Fiorello La Guardia (1887-1947) and David Dubinsky (1892-?).
