Description:
Painted terra cotta circular plaque with image of female portrait profile wearing tiara, red-white-blue ribbon and leaf motif around edges. On May 15, 1940 Holland was occupied. These plaques (see TD1989.289.2) were done for a Spitfire fund (like war bonds) while the Dutch East Indies were free. They were propaganda to lift morale and raise money to buy Spitfires.
