Sara Laimon, co-artistic director of the ensemble Sequitur and teacher at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University, performs three major recent works by Ezra Laderman, Brian Cherney, and Harold Meltzer, commissioned by Brandon Fradd. Free.

Saturdays, February 23, March 1 and 8, 12–5pm WORKSHOP: DESIGN DIMENSIONS
This three-part workshop encourages high school students to envision a better world and take responsibility for making it. Students work with local artists to explore the impact of propaganda and advertising. They’ll then create film, posters, broadsides, and billboard concepts. Architectural historian Robert Rubin addresses the restoration of, and family life in, the Maison de verre—a private residence designed by modernist Pierre Chareau in Paris in the interwar period that has been described as a poetic, exquisite machine. Free to members and students; $10 all others.

DANCE, THE ARTS OF ENCOUNTERS
(2007, France, Dominique Hervieu, 57 min, French, with English Subtitles)
This documentary is about the encounter of dances, a chronicle of the dance world and a poetic exploration of the history and geography of traditional dance from Tunisia, Mali and Cambodia through the dancing of Dominique Hervieu and members of her company. For Dominique Hervieu “This film is a reflection on cultural diversity; not diversity as a simple pretext for an artistic project but rather as a vital and unique experience of contemporary life.” Followed by Q&A.
